The Child at Work
Maria Montessori observed that children learn through purposeful activities of their own choosing. Montessori schools call all of the children's activities “work.” While “work” sounds like a serious endeavor, Dr. Montessori observed that children exhibit joy and experience this purposeful activity as play.
Teen Board
The traditional Montessori Teen Board is used to show children how tens and ones make teens; it is a visual and physical application of building numbers to enable understanding.
Brown Stair/Pink Tower
The Pink Tower and Brown Stairs will help the child develop other areas like Language, where the child needs to be aware of different concepts such as smallest to largest and thinnest to thickest. Indirectly learning vocabulary to mathematics and geometry.
Word Building with ending sounds
Building a strong vocabulary sets the foundation for understanding the importance of communication and developing increased reading and writing skills.
Bead Stringing
Large Bead Stringing is one of the first works within Practical Life's Care of the Environment. Lacing objects provides a powerful yet simple exercise that develops fine motor skills as well as concentration and focus.
